Azerbaijan Society of Maine calls United States for fair position
The Azerbaijan Society of Maine has issued a statement expressing concerns about the resolution “Condemning Azerbaijan's military operation in Nagorno-Karabakh and denouncing Turkish interference in the conflict” submitted by a number of members of the House of Representatives.
The statement highlighted the fact that on September 27, the armed forces of Armenia shelled the positions and settlements located in the frontline zone of Azerbaijan from large-caliber artillery, killing 14 civilians, including two schoolchildren, and injuring more than 40, said the State Committee on Affairs with Diaspora.
“Armenia is conducting a coordinated disinformation campaign, including completely fabricated claims about the arrival of Syrian fighters to Azerbaijan or shooting down of an Armenian fighter jet by the Turkish air forces. None of these lies have been confirmed or proven. With this campaign, Armenia aims to divert attention from its atrocities against the Azerbaijani civilians, as well as to involve a third party in the hostilities. There are no foreign fighters on the Azerbaijani side. On the contrary, Armenia is illegally settling Lebanese Armenians in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan”, said the statement.
